There is a reason the Fein costs more than other multi tools;very well made tool- will last for many years; the simple and secure tool attachment device is hands down better than the ole screw or chuck process used on competitors ; excellent product- agree w/ other reviews that accessories are a little pricey, but if they are made as well as the tool then they are probably worth it.
The first was for one of my son-in-laws for Christmas. They are both very happy with this multi-tasking tool. This is the second Fein MultiMaster 250Q that I've purchased. He's has his own handyman business and he absolutely loves this tool, therefore, when it was my other son-in-law's birthday I ordered one for him, also.
This tool eats cutters some of which cost $50-$100 to replace and didn't even last for one job. There are no generic replacements and original equipment is extremely over priced.
Great product for precise work. It is so precise and controlled, I don't have to worry about hurting myself or miss the cutting line. Plunge cuts that requires precision, drywall jobs, fiber glass shower stall work etc. But I use the cutting blade most of time. Now other companies make similar products. Such as Rockwell, Bosch, and even Dremel. I'm not really impressed with the sanding option though. If you need to replace just one or two tiles from the others, this is the perfect tool.
Variable speed control helps me to control cutting on various types of application and materials. I don't know which one is the best, but I like my Fein. This tool is good at cutting. The grout and thinset removal blade is so useful. The blades are very expensive to just throw it away, so I use the new ones on wood and when it gets dull, I file it and use it for drywall cutting or demolition.
With over 35 years of construction experience, I am familiar with power tools and this one is a good one. The only down side is the high price of the blades and accessories. I've had this tool for over a year now and really like it. It does the kind of work other tools can't.
